Custom jewellery, honestly answered
The questions people actually ask before commissioning a piece, with the answers we give across the counter. Anything we haven’t covered, ask us directly.
The questions we hear most
Can you turn an idea in my head into a piece of jewellery?
Yes, that’s the heart of what we do. We work with you to develop the idea, prepare drawings and a wax model of the design for your approval, and craft the piece in-house. You deal directly with the designer and jeweller throughout, starting with an obligation-free consultation.
How long does a custom piece take to make?
Generally two to three weeks once the design is approved, longer for complex designs. If there’s a date that matters, tell us early, we’ll give you a realistic timeframe and work to it.
Does custom jewellery cost more than ready-made?
Sometimes a little, but you get a piece tailored to your taste and budget rather than the closest thing on a shelf. Because we design and make in-house at wholesale diamond prices, custom is more accessible than most people expect.
What precious metals can I choose from?
Platinum, palladium, and gold in 18ct, 14ct or 9ct, white, yellow or rose, plus silver for the right piece. Metals can be combined for two-tone designs.
Do you work with non-precious metals?
No. Stainless steel, tungsten and titanium need industrial machinery rather than a jeweller’s bench, and they can’t be resized or properly repaired later. We work in metals we can care for over a lifetime.
Can I use my own gemstones or diamonds?
Yes, happily. Heirloom diamonds and gemstones can be checked, verified with you under the microscope, and set into your new piece.
Can I use my own gold?
Yes, we can melt existing gold into a new piece, or credit its value towards your commission. We usually recommend the credit: re-using old gold can cause quality problems in the new metal, so we only melt it back in when the sentiment is the point.
How do I size a ring that’s a surprise?
Borrow a ring she wears, trace its inside circle, or measure its inside diameter and we’ll work out the size. And if it isn’t perfect on the night, we resize it afterwards, some couples even prefer to propose with the ring and then fine-tune or reselect the design together.
I’m not in Sydney. Can we still work together?
Yes. The design conversation works over phone and email, with realistic CAD renders sent for your approval at each step. Interstate and international orders are shipped fully insured, we’ll confirm current shipping options and costs when you order.
Do you guarantee your custom work?
Every custom piece comes with our 100% satisfaction guarantee. You approve the design before production begins, and the piece isn’t delivered until it meets the standard our name goes on, and until it feels right to you.
