Heirloom & jewellery remodelling

Jewellery remodelling, Sydney

The ring that never gets worn. The inherited piece that isn’t quite you. The stones that deserve better than a drawer. Remodelling brings the stones, the memories and the meaning forward into something you’ll actually wear, without losing where it came from.

Remodelling starts from $1,500, designed with Danielle and made in-house by Bobby, our master jeweller of 35+ years, at our studio in the Dymocks Building, Sydney CBD. Nothing is melted, cut or reset until you’ve approved the design.

“Keeping the soul of the piece is the whole point.”

You’re not changing the memory. Sentimental jewellery carries people, not just stones. So we treat remodelling as a design job second and a trust job first: nothing is melted, cut or reset until you’ve seen the new design and said yes to it.

Why people remodel

Wear it again

A piece you love but never wear, outdated, damaged, or not quite you, redesigned so it lives on your hand, not in a drawer.

Keep the sentiment

The stones, the gold and the story stay. Memories close to your heart, in something fresh you’ll wear every day.

Save against buying new

Using your existing stones and metal often costs meaningfully less than an equivalent new piece, and we credit or buy your old gold.

Fix what never worked

A ring that’s poorly made and forever in repair, or an engagement ring that fights your wedding band, resolved properly at the design level.

Working with a family piece whose history needs to lead every decision? Our heirloom jewellery redesign process starts with the stones, engravings and details you want to preserve.

How remodelling works

From drawer to worn again, in five steps.

  1. Bring the piece

We look at your jewellery together: the stones, the metal, the condition, and the story behind it.

  2. Design around the meaning

Danielle designs with you, keeping what matters, changing what doesn’t work anymore.

  3. See it before it’s made

CAD drawings and a wax model let you hold the new design before any stone is moved.

  4. Remade in-house

Bobby remakes the piece at our bench. Your stones never leave our care.

  5. Everything returned

Leftover gold and stones come back to you, along with the piece’s next chapter.

You approve a wax model first

Before your stones are touched, the new design is carved as a wax model you can hold and try on. It’s the moment the idea becomes real, and the right time to change anything, while changes are still easy.

Only when the wax feels right does Bobby build the new piece, and set your stones by hand under the microscope.

What clients say

“Wonderful service, amazing communication in getting exactly what I wanted for the re-design of my bridal rings and eternity ring. I will never ever go to another jeweller. If you want to feel confident in getting what you want, you expect value for money, and exceptional quality, look no further.”

Maree Mitchell, Sydney

“They are truly customer focused and design wonderful jewellery to boot. We have been recommending Daniella Jewellery to anyone we hear of that is getting married.”

Leonard and Stephanie, California

“We can’t thank Daniella Jewellers enough for the incredible remodelling of my fiance’s grandmother’s diamond engagement ring into my stunning engagement ring. We wanted to keep the integrity of the original ring, but also update it to make it feel like my ring. They worked with us to create something so special that we absolutely love.”

Remodelling questions

Can my old jewellery be remodelled?

Almost always. Rings, brooches, chains and earrings can be redesigned into new pieces. We check the stones and metal first and tell you honestly what will work and what won’t.

Will my stones be swapped or lost?

No. This worry is one we take seriously: your stones are verified with you at drop-off, held securely, and verified with you again at pickup. Nothing is reset until you’ve approved the design.

Can I use the old gold in the new piece?

Sometimes, and we’re honest about when it’s worth it. Re-using old gold can affect the quality of the new piece, so we often recommend crediting its value instead. Either way, what’s yours stays yours.

What does jewellery remodelling cost?

It depends on the work. Smaller jobs like resetting a stone cost a few hundred dollars, while full remodels typically start from around $1,500. You’ll have a clear quote after the first consultation, before anything begins.

What happens to my leftover gold?

It stays yours. We can return it, credit its value towards the new piece, or buy it from you, whichever you prefer.

I’m not in Sydney. Can you still help?

Yes. We remodel jewellery for clients across Australia and beyond, the design conversation happens by phone or video, and pieces travel by insured courier. Tell us where you are and we’ll work out the logistics with you.

What if I don’t know what I want the new piece to be?

That’s normal. Most people arrive with a piece and a feeling, not a design. Bring the jewellery and the story, the design conversation is what the first appointment is for.

Bring the piece and the story.

We’ll look at it together, talk about what it could become, and give you an honest opinion, including whether it should be remodelled at all.
