Valuation questions

What does a jewellery valuation cost?

A valuation is approximately $150 per piece. If you have several pieces, ask us, we’ll quote before starting.

What is the valuation for?

Most valuations are for insurance, so a lost or stolen piece can be replaced like-for-like. We also value jewellery for estates, family division and simple peace of mind.

Is an insurance valuation the same as what I could sell the piece for?

No, and we’ll explain the difference honestly. An insurance valuation reflects replacement cost, which is usually higher than resale value. Knowing both numbers protects you from surprises.

Should heirloom jewellery be valued before remodelling?

Often, yes, it documents the stones and the piece as it was. If you’re considering remodelling, mention it and we’ll advise on the right order to do things.

Know what you’re holding.

Book a time, bring the piece, and leave with the paperwork, and a clear explanation.
